Atlantic 3b

Just ripped Mainsail about 3ft up leech while reefing in squal. With 1000NM to go!

Additional from Crutey - I've contacted Boo about this, and it isn't as alarming as it sounds to us landlubbers. He is still perfectly safe but progress will be slower now. He isn't pleased to say the very least. You have the satphone number people, use it to cheer him up with a txt!

Hi Boo and his supporters allover the world.
Just a short cheer-up from Finland. Am trying to figure out Aliisas position. They should arrive in these days to Carib if everything has gone smoothly.
Ayee, IT-lionking sailing singlehanded...
I wonder what the left one does, as Twittering isn´t possible...

update at 00:30 GMT on Fri 9 Jan:

Boo's just confirmed he's got 670miles to go until St Lucia so the ripped mainsail isn;t holding him back too severely.

he is a sicko

i've no idea how 670 miles in a boat relates to me in my focus speed wise. 4 days or so depending on wind I guess? i just made that 4 days up out of thin air btw!

That's not bad going at all, he had 1000nm to go when the sail went I think so 330nm (ish) in 3 days is decent progress compared to what he was getting before the 'incident'.

Expecting a full update from him today sometime, will post as soon as he sends it to me.

hey all

Boo's usual reckonings are an average of 5knots/hour or 100 miles/day. Last few days (despite ripped mainsail) have been over average so he should be making landfall anytime from Monday if he keeps going at this rate...

will post update as soon as I hear myself when he wants me to catch his lines at this end!

In process of meeting his mate Matius who's the talk of the marina having arrived in a small submarine style vessel called Carma (15ft ish?!?!) on Tuesday.

If anyone wants anything specific arranging to meet Boo on arrival let me know (keep it decent pls - I know he;s been at sea for a while now!!!)

:b

Kat,

My money is on Tuesday looking at latest progress.

If you can find it I know Boo developed a tast for Honey Rum in the canaries I think he will need a couple of shots of that having read his blog!!!
