Where is Doris?...

Baiona (4)

Just a quick post to let everyone know that I am alive.

So what’s been going on … Well mostly socialising and very little boating to be honest, since I dropped anchor.

I met Marcus & Lidsay of Veracity, an old school lugger (built by Marcus) based on a design from about a hundred years ago. These two loons have sailed straight from the UK to here and even then they only stopped because of a lack of any wind. Ordinarily this wouldn’t stop them except for the fact that they have no engine! - Or fridge or toilet!
The anchorage has become a social hive of activity with mucho sun, beer and playing of guitars etc Bruce, Lindsay, Marcus, Niels and Steve all being regular attendees.

My pole end finally arrived which will get fitted tomorrow and I have also purchased 30m of 18mm anchor warp which I will spice into my 30m of 8mm chain. Jerry – I could really use that 50m chain I sold you!

Nothing else to report except that ‘we’ (Niels, Bruce & myself) are going assess the weather for Wednesday.

Dave (Brighton) will be coming out for the 2nd week in October so I need to get near an airport in Portugal. Updates, well Mark and Amanda left us and are now in Povoa De Varzim and Brian (from La Coruna) is anchored off Cascais.

Bruce is finally enjoying a few beers in the sunshine...

Watch this space…

Yup and the button it's working now too (no donation this time, don't get your hopes up).

I'm guessing Tom is a Pen-tester type and as such will prob be using a 'superior browser' ;-). Works fine in plain-old IE!!

Tom,

I have misjudged you at retract my previous browser-based slur ;-)

Ver 6 may be the issue though, it works on IE7 and 8, Google Chrome, Opera 9.5, Firefox 3, and Safari. (Let's just say I have a professional interest in browsers!!!)

How much in the autopilot=cupatea fund (Boo already has £15 I put in for him to get a slap-up greasy breakfast during a low moment - which he never did!)?

Glad to see Gromit's name has stuck!

Crutey - You & Tom actually have a lot in common besides the whole KENT thing!

And who the fook is Mike Reid?!?!?

If he brings those trainers hes gonna have a long week!

The 'special' bog roll got used way back.

Hey dude! Glad to see that you are relaxed and having some fun in the sun, playing the guitar and having a few beers :-) - sweet.

We are just back from Cannes sailing with Pierre - he is really interested in what you are doing and I have sent him over all of your contact details and this blog. He sends his best wishes.

Man we set off in his yacht for the day last week, the sun on our backs and I was thinking - bring out the bubbly! Then a storm broke, thunder & lightning and what seemed to be a 90 degrees tilt for the following few hours, oilskins and certainly no bubbly just hot tea! It was fun, but boy did it happen quickly!

Got some great pics, will email them over to you soon.

Will try and give you a call again to have a good catch up.

Stay safe and keep up the good work!
